Anyone who could not run the game (game flashes and exists instantly) should redownload the package. Now there is a ufo_sh1.exe included which was compiled for 1.x versions of shaders. However, I dont have the equipment to test if it actually works. So anyone who couldnt run the standard game, please try the alternate exe. If you succeed in running it, inform me. (you may require a graphics card driver update)
As what you can expect from the word ‘beta’ this game will crash/not work/behave strangely. If you notice anything like that, visit our forum and report.
Game works without running the extractor, as mentioned before. But to play with sounds and all graphics you will have to do it non the less. It works exactly the same as in demo, so in case of troube, check out the forum, there are already some threads that explain a bit more into how to use the extractor if it doesnt work straight out of the box.

Please remember also that you can not play as aliens in singleplayer. There is no Ai for humans. You can however start the game. This serves as a kind of sandbox to see how aliens look.

Hi guys,
I can not run the game. I have same problem with demo. When I run the Ufo.exe, almost nothing happens – only a blink of screen.
I am running it on IBM ThinkPad T43, Windows XP.
I am not sure what can be wrong, maybe the game has some system requirments which my comp does not fulfil.
Are there some system requirements? Can I run the game with some option to see logs or error messages?

Shaders 2.0. Meaning you need a better graphics card than usually is supplied with some of the laptops

very coll – I started to search this milestone of the history of games (…) this morning and today was your release! Thank you very much!
Now I have some questions:
- I can’t save the game – I’ve already swiched off the write protection of the whole folder, but no effect.
- is it possible to begin more than one science project like in the former version?
- is it possible to locate the newly discovered UFO’s if the message appears?
- I’m loosing too many soldiers! but I think with this you can’t help me

Hi.
See if there is a folder named “saves” in your ufo directory. If not – create it.
You can have only one science project per human base at a time.
You can press ‘spacebar’ key when getting ‘ufo detected’ this will center on last detection.

If your graphic card does not support Shaders 2.0, you can try to use software emulator. I found 3DAnalyze or SwiftShader (not free).
I managed to run the game with it and with 3DAnalyze it does not take a big performance hit.

Finally I can say, the game looks great!
The game runs beautifully, put in the playstation mp3 versions of the music, and all is well.
Pretty friggin awesome if I must say so myself, now to go play it with some family and test out the multiplayer!
Works fps-nice with sh1, thanks. Is there any way to make anything move faster in combat, tho?
in config.cfg you can edit animationspeed=2; to animationspeed=1;. It will speed things up (except for firing animation).

i had a crash with ufo.exe after i was in battle with a large craft landed and loaded from inside the battle to a load to the geo.is there a way so i can copy u the error?

There is no debuger or any other error log. but if the error keeps happening all the time, it would be a lot easier if i got those saves and tested them.

Big problems with multiplayer, it doesnt’ connect to each other, i mean for the client it just does nothing but host thinks it’s started and starts playing.
Hey the game looks quiet excellent. I tested the multiplayer and it works for me, I can join and also host a game. But a big part of the map stays black even when the soldier stands in front of it. Never the less, great work and I waiting for the final version with pleasure
I extracted the file to the same folder I extracted the ufo extender patch about a year ago. When I run the game nothing is different. I am using the steam version. What step have i missed?
Just played it. Looks nice, however the improved chryssalid model is not available yet. Another problem is terror cites: game tends to freeze at random turn. Also, I think it is better to have the previous name of saved game to be confirmed when saving again rather than retyped.
